I am running gorden bars in my second combine now and I had my first bar break last corn harvest and I am not sure why it broke, it broke right in half. The front half was still bolted to it's pedestal and the back half was gone even the bolt.So maybe the bolt came loose and caused it to break. I think the bars are very well made and they are not going to break very often. In the two combines I have put these in I never had to drill any holes.
