the new r-65 and 75 has an extra floor in the bottom of the bin now. we have used 14 gauge stainless sheets and had a machine shop form them to the bin shape. we then lay a piece of 5 inch pipe on top of it and press on the pipe with port a powers to get it flat against the old floor. then we just driil holes and rivet it to the old floor. the elbow and auger must come off but we have did 30 or so of them and have not had one come close to wearing out.

I have mentioned this in a much earlier post. In Australia, there are at least a couple of sheet metal shops that specialise in extremely wear resistant stainless steel sheet components for combines of all colours. Any stainless sheet parts come ready to fit. They are located in the irrigated rice growing areas as rice has a reputation as one of the most abrasive crops you can put through a combine. I am surprised, that considering the size of the US market, nobody ever mentions a shop that specialises in stainless components for combines. [ The total crop acreage for all crops in Australia, 50,000,000 acres, would fit comfortably into Kansas, 52,000,000 acres. We often wonder whether your farm leaders are ignorant or are deliberately misleading you when they make some fairly outrageous claims as to the dangers of Australia's competition in the world markets. We have NO goverment supports of any type for our cropping industries! Our population, 20 mill. is too small to support a subsidy system, so agriculture in Australia takes its chances on the world market. It has made us lean and hungry! ] Apologies for the lecture. Cheers.

My sincere apologies to all the Gleaner guys for what are seen as political comments in the above post. I have had my knuckles severely rapped for putting these comments on this very highly regarded, non political, combine site.

Hey ROM, No need to apologize. As far as subsidies go, my belief is that subsidies dont help the ones that they are intended for. Rather they tend to be capitalized in high land prices and ridiculous land rents. A lot of North American producers are barely making a go of it.
