Combines grain cart scalesIJ

I put a scale system on one about 4 yrs ago. It was a J-Star model It had the 2 spindles and a new bar that the original clevis went on to. I dont know about others but when it worked I loved it....hovever it did not last long. It is CONSTANTlY BROKEN. Maby too much weight,rough fields, I dont know which but I would not reccomend one to anybody. J-Star and the local dealer only know how to sell weigh bars etc and send some body who dont know jack about them. Still dont know what the problem is. Save your money avoid a scale from these guys! We put a Scale Tec scale on our Brent 774 last fall. It was simply a matter of replacing the spindles, hitch and running the wires. I'm thinking it was a 3-4 hour job with two people. We really like it, I wouldn't want to own another cart without one. It can be extremely accurate but for the best readings it's best to leave the cart stationary, if you zero out the scale then run accross the field to fill the cart when you empty the cart it will usually be a few pounds off on the empty weight, most of the time it's still accurate enough. For something you need it to be very accurate for like calibrating a yeild monitor it's best to park the cart on a flat surface and leave it there until your done weighting. last year I was using it to load 650 bushel wagons with beans and on 5-6 loads I don't think the grain cart scale was ever more than 40 lbs off of what the elevator scales showed.

We put one on a JandM 750 cart from scale tec 2 years ago and it has worked great. It is really amazing how accurate they are.
