Hello there I myself run a 7140 I think it now has over 10000 hrs on it it is a great tractor. I also use it for a kart tractor. We usually put a new oil pump in her about every 3000 hrs and she just keeps on runnin and runnin.....

Consider looking at a tracked machine for your cart. It handles the high in field speeds well and is unsurpassed in your ability to load trucks. Just by turning the steering wheel allows you to fine tune your buggys position. Kevin

hello cutter 2388 . was just wondering why you change the oil pump every 3,000 hoursIJ it has a cummins right IJ

Yes it does have the 8.3 cummins. The motor shelled out at 4500hrs. The mechanic said the oil pump had failed. He claims that is what will get the cummins so since then we have just replaced the pump around 3000 hours to play it safe. Actually had it changed this past harvest and the mechanic said it was good that we did as it was starting to get weak........ Good or bad I am not sure but since the original motor going at 4500hrs we have since got over 6000 more hours on it and it runs like a beast.

What do yall use the 7140 for most of the time, besides the grain cart

Well now that is its only use. I figure only needing a tractor for the kart there is no need in a new mx so the old 7140 will have to do. I did lease a mx170 and it was a nice tractor the only complaint was when you shut the pto off it sounded like world war 3 on the kart...Here around the farm and feedlot we use a 7130 and an 8920...The 7140 is retired to kart duty

thanks for the help. sodbuster My local cummings dealer thought that over revving would be the cause. Especially in combines looking for extra ponies. He said lower rpms should make it last a long time with little trouble. thanks again
