I think on our 1688 it was just a light by the stering wheel 2388 is chime type alarm and light

I had an experirence with the same year 1660 and the sensor that they sold me for the part number in my parts book woudnt work I had to get the sensor just like the one the 2188s have then it worked fine and I believe it was just a light in the steering column

I know that our old 91 1680 had a light by the steering wheel and a buzzer that would bing constantly as long as the feeder house was ingaged.

I have a 92 model 1680 and I fitted a tank alarm. The first one the dealer got me was an early type unit and it din't work. put one like on a 21 or 23 and worked fine. Also needed the tinker bell alarm that goes under the console.
