Combines Grain tank is full

I don't know if there's going to be much diff but when I had my 6620 when the grain had completely covered up the glass that meant I couldn't go very much farther and needed to dump the bin. At night when the tank light disappears same ordeal. Not sure, maybe with the 7720 having a bigger tank that rule of thumb might not work but you can try it. Your wider....not any taller......might be worth a shot.

8820 is the same way - whenever glass is full, you have just enough time to stop and let the machine clean itself out. That would be a neat idea though, using a lever switch or something similar.

When we got our 4400, the guy who had previously owned it had mounted a small round mirror off of an old pickup on the railing at the front of the cab so he could see when the grain tank was full. The thing is a lifesaver, because you are not constantly turning your head around to check the grain tank. I don't know why the same sort of thing would not work on a 7720. I painted the mirror with JD blitz black paint and it looks like Deere put it there.

This is a good IJ, having just bought an 8820 T2 with some small extensions, I am assuming that even though the tank window is full, there is still some room in the hopper. I plan to add on a switch with a small arm and paddle that will kick a small light on in the cab once the grain in the hopper reaches the full level (no more buzzers). I think this would be attainable fairly cheaply and not take long to set up. If anyone has ideas, let me know. 95man

Why not just go to deere and price that paddle switch for a maximizer and wire it inIJ all it is is an on off switch that finishes a connection. run the wires then into the cab to your light.....then to the power source....ground at the grain tank. Wa-laa...done. Don't know what that switch is going to cost you, I'm sure it's not cheap but the plastic paddle is already there and all you have to do is make some sort of a mounting bracket. Do make it like the maiximzers though that it's adjustable There maybe times your harvesting a steep sidehill and a little forwarning would be nice.

Oh I'm disgusted........Grandmothers made 99 and some upland that is back to sorghum for the first time in 5 years because of a shattercane problem made 87...........*grin* All kidding aside, I was fairly pleased. I did have a bottom that's been continuous crop milo for 4 years now that made less than 80 and I was a little upset but considering some of the dry spells we had.....I say all in all it was a good year, all things considered. Nothing got burned up or beat in the ground or required a need to collect crop insurance. That alone in it'self some years is a triumph! Now! What kind of rumors can we start so that crazy board of trade shoots bean and corn markets through the roofIJ I'm not concerned mainly of the corn.....just that as you know sorghum follows it closely............I'm thinking we need to play accordingly if we are going to play the game. Surely someone knows someone that can get a rumor started in our favorIJIJ.....(grin) Good luck.........Tell me what that paddle switch cost after you price it. I'm going to price one as well and then see how close we are.

This is what I did. Took the walker plugged sensor wiring, ran to the grain tank extensions. Put a switch about 4" below the top edge of the grain tank extensions. In all my years combining, never had the walkers plug, so I eliminated that function. Works great.
