Yes that would be alot of bushels. When I can't make it and I don't have our grain cart availible, I park a truck on both ends. Then I shuttle the trucks to town. Good luck, Kurt

I think that if gleaner wanted that combine to hold 450bu. that would have done that. Also I think about it this way which is cheaper a $18,000 grain cart Or a new R72.Thats my thoughts take it or leave it. P.S. I guess I should ask if you own a tractor also!! BG

I,ve run my 94 R72 which I got from the same place you got yours for 9 harvest seasons with the Maurer 440 bushel extension and 12 row hugger head. 2200 hours and never had any trouble. Ask Rick. I do have keltgens 420-80-R46 duals with the axle extensions and truss rods. Done about a 1000 acres of soybeans each year with this and they weigh more than corn. Can easily make 2 half mile rounds with 30' head. Got to ride in the new 9790 MF yesterday that Willmar was demonstrating with new 12 row Gerinhoff head. The 330 HP handled it very nicely.

Thanks for the info Ron. I will check to see if I have the more bolt setup for final drive attachment which would be better. I think this will work out OK. In beans we pick up on the go, and dump every round so we are real easy on the machine for bean harvest. I had talked to lon and he didn't see any reason not to go with our plan. Thanks again.

Your points well taken. No, we don't have a tractor to handle a cart. like I say, total pickup on the go program adds lots of costs compared to what we want to do IF we don't cause problems. The 10 row 22" actually makes more sense, but in big yield years, we will just take 10 rows anyway with the 12 row head - no problems doing that.

In many ways I agree that 10 row for the machine is ideal. My next planter could be a 30 row 22" that would be 55 feet. Just talked with Gleaner dealer in E. Minnesota, has many machines with the biggest Maurer extension that holds 450 bu, and has not had any problems with any of them. The highest load situation for us would be only for a few minutes of every 15 to 20 minute cycle, which helps, and not every year will we have crop size that will get us a full load.

The planter idea is probably a pipe dream. I like semi mount 3-point planters so well and I'm sure that a 30 row would have to be pull type (probably Friesen made or like company). Now have Todd Fabrication (Hector MN) stacked 24 row 22" with Kinze units that is built like a brick ____ ____, and may be with me till rocking chair time. The answer to your question however, is probably a Genesis (read Versatile now).
