Combines greasing

Steve, There is the danger of greasing it to much and pushing the seals out, but when I had an 820 I never felt comfortable with just once a year. I greased mine one or two pumps every other day or so. That worked for me. let's see how much other guys are greasing that drive. K.A.

I think greasing is better, but you have to be very careful to not push out the seals.I grease the knife head daily or twice a day on a long day. When repairing the wobble box I secure the end cap_seal on the lower pivot bearing( the one you grease through the flange underneath the wooble box itself) with some small,VERY CAREFUl tacks from the welder so that it can't be forced off as easily and i can then grease this bearing daily as well ,even pushing out a bit of the dirt that works in.The zerk on the top of the inner bearing that you get to by turning to line it up with the hole through the top of the wobble box structure I grease a couple pumps every 2-3 days but being watchful to not push out the side seals of that bearing..Believe there are some posts on this subject quite a way down on this site or perhaps on the Gleaner site as some of their heads use the same wobble box.

On our gleaner flex heads it talks about greasing once a season also, I've never felt good about that idea. We run about 70 sep. hours a year on the heads and grease "sparingly" every 20 or 25 sep hours. my thoughts, Mike
