We had similar problems with our R5 before replacing the impeller with a chopper. (They are not the same!) Without the chopper, the R5 was only a knotter from being a fine baler of green bean stems. It was amazing how tight that chute was packed with bean stems. The chopper solved the problem. Hope this helps. John

I think I would crank the clearance down and speed the rotor up. I don't knnow your situation but here I running about 3.5 on clearance and 730 on the rotor. I would lower it down and speed up till you see splits then back her down a little till she clears up. Your losses depend on your head size but behind a gleaner they should be few and far between. If you have a operators manual the chart is in there for measuring losses.
