JD I have been a long time Axial-flow man but I just bought a new 8780xp about a month ago. So far I am happy with the machine. Having run Case for years it has taken some getting use to but it seems to be a well built machine and it will run circles around my 2366. I purchased it from Rudolph Brothers in Boonville Ind. (812-897-1720) I am in north Alabama. I never thought I would say this but they offered more for my trade than I expected. When I was on his yard about 45 days ago he had two more new 8780's. If you are serious I would give them a call. I am new to the machine, but at this time my biggest complaint is the sheet metal on the sides is not hinged and does not open. Their is plenty of room under there but it makes it darker and hotter to get in there and work. If you have any more questions I will be as objective as possible. (No color wars) I have never owned a piece of Massey equipment in my life and to my knowledge there is not another 8780 in the state. I tell you that to state that I bought what I thought what was the best machine for the money not what the neighbors have. Time will tell if I am right. My 2 cents, Brian

Brian, Where they 4wd units, the 2 on the yardIJ Also, do they have 30ft platforms to go with themIJ Who did you deal with at the dealershipIJ If you remember...... I'm in eastern NC and there are 2 of the older 8570's running around Statesville, NC which is about 5 hrs west of me. I talked to that guy back in the summer, he is a Massey man through and through so I had a hard time talking to him about them, if you understand what I meanIJ like you said, I'm what ever works the best for dollar paid and the best if possible warranty. Don't really care who's name is on the outside as long as the insides work well! The 8780 reminds me of a TR as they are simple and not overly large in size or weight. Rotored machines don't have to be as big as conventionals because of all the needed parts required by them, this is one of things that I can't understand about the new CR from NH. The mid-sized one..CR940 is equal to a TR-99 in capacity but it out weighs it by 10,000lbs. I don't see the need in this as we never have had structural problems with a TR. I'd better stop, it just makes me sick to think about new CR! Thanks, JD

Nathan and Peter. Peter seems to be the deal maker. One of the machines he had then was 2wd (30.5 rubber)and other was 4wd (18.4 X 42 tires) The way they talked I think they will swap around and set then up any way you want them. Even add 4wd. They also had a huge parts inventory compared to what I am used to. Had a bearing tear up in a chain ider (I had one on the shelf that would work)Called them and had the part in hand in 24 hrs. Brian, You said you were in Alabama. Have you ever tried Cox in Hoxie, Ark. They are a big Massey dealer that I bought a drill from this spring. Real nice place and Real nice people. They were 350 miles from my house, and I have a Massey dealer 7 miles away . If I were to bye a Massey I would for sure check them out. And when my R72 is wore out I might just drive a Massey. That is how impressed I was with there place. Illinois Gleaner

we have ran MF combines for as long as i can remember we had 2 750's, 1 850, 1 8570 got it in the summer of 1993 and ran it until this past fall which would have been in 2000 crop year we had it last it had 2200 hours on it then, which was when we bought at 8780 98 model it was a year leftover had 200 and some odd hours on it we like it. this year we are looking at buying or trading up to the 8780xp due to more acres this year and we really want it for more horsepower and just for few other details we like about it. The place that i would check into would be Chrisman Farm Center in Chrisman, Illinois. we have bought all of our MF combines from there we buy from John Craig he is one heck of a salesman that is for sure. their number is 1-800-535-9542. we live in marshall, il which is about 20-30 miles from chrisman but i know i would put the massey up against any other brand out there i am happy with ours. allen good luck

I also deal with rudolph bros. they did all they said they were going to do. I bought an 860 from them they warrantied the machine for a full fall. They stood behind it too! Prairie land Power in Illinois also has good deals on 8780's. DO NOT DEAl WITH KUHNS EQUIPMENT in Illinois.
