Shawn, have you listed any of that equipment on the AgTalk Clasified Ads siteIJ I think they get a lot of traffic over there. Here's a link to that site. Good luck!!
Are you giving up this lucrative custom harvesting Shawn. I hope you are not, we need guys like you and me, family run harvesting operations and who think harvesting is the best job in the world and smile every day the sun shines and there is a crop to cut. Merry Christmas to you and also to my good buddy Unit 2.
Merry Christmas to you also Big Al! I love your positive attitude. Yes we need young men like Shawn in the business. I had the privilege to meet Shawn this year at Frederick just outside Box Inc. He is a fine gentleman.
Hello to both of you, I am not giving up the business I am just downsizing to get to a more managable operation. I am planning on scaling down to 1 combine and working with another harvester to take up the slack.. I will sure be glad when the year is over, I still have 50 acres of corn here at home to finish up. Good luck to all and have a merry christmas and happy new year... Shawn Weber..
Glad to hear you are staying in business Shawn. We went to one combine in 2003 and it has been the best move we have ever made. We have jobs where the farmer has a combine of his own and we have jobs where another harvester has worked with us. And we also have jobs where it is just us and it works out fine. I'm sure you will be happy with your decision.
That is my plan I hope it all works out the way I would like. I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 yrs ago so I look at the whole thing a little differently. When I was younger I liked having all of the combines and cutting lots and lots of acres but these days I am tired of fighting the hired help issues. I always have had very good luck getting college kids to help on the wheat harvest but always struggle with good help in the fall so now I will run 1 combine and do the wheat run then stay at home and harvest my local harvest in the fall... Good luck to all..
