The Hawk series is when they intro'd the P3 processor in the R60_70's. The R40_50's didn't change much except the cab interior was changed from tan to white_gray I believe. If you have a Hawk Series combine, their will be an outline of a Hawk's head in the decals on the side of the combine. I also tend to think this is when they switched from header mounted hyd. reel drives to using combine hydraulic system to power the reels. Tom l.

The p3 processor was intro'd and the cab interior changed from tan to grey_white, as well as it was the first to have the reel lift and auger shut off buttons put on the hydro lever. these may turn out to be a collectors item someday because I don't think therewere many made with the Hawk designation, because I think soon after AGCO came into existance and changed the stipe from the Deutz green to orange. I believe our 91 R70 is actually a Hawk series though it don't have the hawk on it, and thank goodness it's orange.

When they came out with the first R40's and 50's, they were a whole new combine. Prior to that, there was the N5 and R5, but no Class 4 rotary. I tend to think they put the small P3 out here for all of us to try, keeping the P1 in the big boys, until they found out it actually worked well without the cage sweep, etc. Then they decided to use the P3 concept in the 60's and 70's. The Hawk Series marked the introduction of the P3 in the big combines. Also went to a white_grey cab interior instead of the tan. I don't remember what, if any, other changes there were. Yes, the N5 and R5's had the same size processor as the N6_7 and R6_7 - only had some of the cage area blocked off if I remember right. Hope this helped- Tom langan
