Combines Header Auger Wear

I am not sure how you could get that much wear based on my experience, unless soybeans are that hard on the metal. I have a 930 that is 12 years old cutting about 1000-1200 acres per year of wheat and milo and I have never adjusted it. The only wear is one spot near the center that must have been a soft spot in the metal, as it has worn a small hook there, but that is about all. We had 6600's before that that were 20+ years old and never adjusted the auger.

I would have to say that it's probably not the beans as much as the dirt that comes from cutting unlevel ground with the flex head right on the ground. I typically find that I need to adjust in the wheat when it doesn't feed very well. I think this is just from having run it all fall without looking at it, and now it needs adjustment to feed the lighter wheat in. Thanks for your observations.
