Combines Header control problems

I have had the same problems that you are experiencing. I have an older 1680 with a new 30ft flex head. It will sometimes bounce it's way to the ground unless I hold the toggle in the down position untill it almost reaches the ground. If I don't raise it too high, less than one foot, it will return easily. I have found through my dealer that if you will loosen the valve on the hydralic accumulator about one half way the down function works all the time. This,I know, makes the automatic header less sensitive but with the larger head I am moving slow enough,2.5 to 3.5 mph, that it still has time to do what is necessary. Try it as it might work for you.

maybe a little late first time ive been on in a while i have older model 1660 with 22.5 ft 1020 flex head it done this from day one when dealer delivered it new to the feild. the way i fixed it was on right side of header where pointer is behind cover i took a tarp strap hooked it on to pointer to put more tension on it's worked for many years till strap came loose and had to put it back on but the sping under the header on the control rod is just a little weak
