Combines Header drive belt

galvgoat, The part number you should have is 71300996.Hopefully you have the upper drive sheaves opened(slowed down)up.If not, insert a small screwdriver in hyd. fitting to relieve pressure and spread sheaves apart.Install belt on upper sheaves and then roll onto bottom sheaves spreading them apart as you roll belt on.Sometimes the cams in the torque sensor will have a groove wore in them and the sheaves will not open all the way.(Have to disassemble torque sensor to remedy this.) Hope this helps, Hyper Harvest II

David, would you say grooves in the cams probably caused the original belt to go bye-byeIJ

Very possible to have the worn cams cause belt failure. The variable speed header drive needs to be greased daily and needs to be greased with a hand grease gun. This way you can tell when you feel resistance in your grease gun, that you have enough grease in torque sensor.(Approx. 8-12 pumps)Definitely warrants torque sensor disassembly if belt snapped as head was trying to be sped up. Belt broke while shelling corn. Have had terrible time with header plugging. Was tough and between smaller lower ears than normal and foxtail getting tough. Havent even had hyd. hose hooked to variable speed sheave because had had leak inside and was not having any problems matching speeds or throwing ears out.
