Combines Header height indicator on 9000 9010 series combines

I guess that just goes to show how different areas do things differently. We intentionally try to leave our straw tall so that our drill plants into it better. The only thing I've seen to do the job you want is a Headsight. I've looked at them especially since we went to a 30' contour master machine. Not sure I could justify the cost though with our wheat acres. Good luck. BH

I saw one advertised years ago and made one for my sons who were too young to be combining, but never the less were. I attached a 1_2 inch pvc pipe about 2 or 3 ft long to a small channel iron and the channel iron to a bolt on the feeder house and ran it up through one of the holes on the step on the left front corner of the cab. I put different color stripes with a felt tip marking pen on the pipe and the boys could tell where to run the head. This was on a 9600.

This is what I have, and I don't know how I lived without it.
