Combines Header speed

It can be the raise or lower poppet in the reel lift valve leaking. The reel lift valve is used to control header speed when corn head is installed. I would highly doubt the poppets in the reel lift valve. The approx. 500psi relief valve that is in the line right next to where you hook up the small hydralic coupling is more than likely the problem. Replace the relief valve and you should be back on track. We had some of these leak on early models and the new valve is improved.

Thanks for the help. It's raining in kansas today, so I'm working on books. Trouble is, I can't stay away from the Gleaner site for any length of time. There might be some more good information to read. We will try the relief valve as soon as it dries up. Harvest about over.

Dan they say the valve isn't servicable but we have taken apart, replaced the ball if necessary, and always remembering the number of turns you back off the spring, reinstalled in the field. A lot of time it is a piece of o ring or trash keeping the valve from seating.

If a 62 is similar to a 60, make sure your variable speed sheave on the lH end of the feeder countershaft is tensioned correctly and the mechanism isnt plugged with dirt. Tom in MN
