I assume you have a newer 1660 with the operator sensing switch under the seat. Take the black panel off on the outside of the cab on the right hand side. You will be able to see all the relays. look for a square box about 2" on a side and 1_2" thick with 4 wires coming out of it. It is called the "Timer Delay Switch". It ties into the switch under the seat so that the feederhouse keeps running for a few seconds after you stand up. When the timer delay goes bad, you get symptoms just like you describe. I thought it was the switch under the seat also, but it wasn't. Sometimes it would go all day without a problem, other times it wouldn't go 10 minutes. Completely random.

Check your adjustment of the separator belt. You have to take a panel off on our 2188 to see the adjustment window. This is the triple belt behind the feederhouse belt. There is an update on the 2188's and may work on yours that changes angle of hydraulic engagement cylinder to apply more pressure to belt. Mine started slipping and will shut head off going through the field. Make sure top of block is at least to the bottom of the window if not a little below. Tightening this belt has fixed my problem. I have not installed the update kit yet. Good luck.
