Combines Helical Bar Concaves

I think you should ask the rice growers how they are coping with the nasty wet straw that they have to deal with. Most cereal growers in the US and Canada have dry straw conditions most of the time.

Jimmy,I too am considering helical concaves, talked to Marvin Gorden at the NFMS in louisville last week and ask him about wire spacing and he informed me that the helical concaves will have NO wires at all.If you need more thresh you simply install a set of cover plates.I`d like to get a set but the price has me scratchin` my head.Good luck

Have seen the helical concaves loewen makes and they supply with wires, high narrow space and low wider space. Where have you seen one without wires, and what would happen if you don't want to use filler platesIJ

I'm not sure what the effect the helical design would have but in the damp conditions we have it's the depth of the wires that make the biggest difference. I've found that in damp condions with what's best described as plastic straw the shallower the wires are set the better the self cleaning effect. If you want to try a set of loewens with the wires set deep you can try them for free because they are useless to us.

Hal, Click on the "ATTACHMENTS" bar on the left side of this page, then schroll down to "HElICAl CONCAVES" and click on it. It will show a helical concave that has wires,at the bottom of page it will have the name "Gorden Harvesting Equipment" call the 800 745 1680 number there and talk to Marvin Gorden,he can answer your questions.Good luck

What are the wire spacings on your loewen concavesIJ Where are youIJ Do you have threshing problems with the shallow wiresIJ Are you still using loewen concavesIJ If not whos are you using.

You might also consider these Niehaus concaves that claim that they collect less trash than others.

Jimmy I'll have to check on the spacing of the wires they were sold to me as small grain concaves but i'll measure up the spacing and depth of the wires for you. I'm in Cumbria and now i'm back using CaseIH small wire concaves with every third wire removed this seems to provide the best compromise for output and losses. We also have a spring loaded shock kit from loewen and that does work!
