Combines helical bars

These extended pitch bars are at nearly twice the angle of the std helicals. They were designed for super low rpm such as edible beans. We have installed them in some R62 -72 machines with good success. The problem is at higher rpms excess cyl loss can occur in some crops. We have a few machines with steep pitch bars over the threshing section and std pitch over the separator area. Make sure they are bolted in with large washers to secure them, right KevinIJ When they come out they are not usually reuseable :) The purpose is to move the crop as quick as possible away from the threshing grate so as less HP is consumed and thus higher capacity.

Am running steep pitch with Sunnybrook rotor and loewen sep grate, (corn_soybeans only) and it is the sweetest running Gleaner, period. Bean capacity is great with seed quality job. No losses in soybeans, and very light losses in corn(about one to two tenths bu per acre). Run 240 rpm in corn with excellent samples. Did not have any high moisture corn this year, so don't know about how that would be. This setup must get on the options list when buying new machines!

so you are saying the 68" are steep pitch bars. These 68" are are from gleaner not aftermaket. The gleaner parts are less money then aftermarket.so what large washer are to be used at. they don't bolt to the same hole's

Why was I worried about your setup the last couple monthesIJ Did you us a stationary rasp bar on that cage material seperator grateIJ Did you get your 1222 auger to feed the dry cornIJ What holds you up in which cropIJ Did you have the 330HP R72IJ What's your next step into hyperlandIJ

Yes the 68" kit are steeper pitch and if crop followed them as good as normal pitch crop would flow threw quicker. Even if crop flowed threw quicker it would very closely match the turns crop makes in cage on the two smaller machines with shorter cylinder and standard helicals. There is not a steeper pitch kit available for the smaller two machines. The large flat washers are to be used with new bolts for the carriage bolts now use the 1X 1 1_4" holes threwout the cage. I believe Ram Rod followed same system we did for installing helicals and that is we bought a couple extra of the long helicals and added them where Gleaner did not have plan to put them. I wouldn't say these helicals add bunches of capacity but they do help prevent material from making second pass over concave and pattern looks just great when all installed. We get by very well with steep pitch but don't have high yeilding wet corn to worry about. Who knows maybe it would only help in that crop too. There are plenty of things to increase capacity of your R62. let use know what you've done and or what year you have. Sounds to me you need to do some hyperizing from what your previous post stated. Check out Hyper mod site and ask questions.
