Combines helicals and shocks

The pic you mentioned is our R52. I cut the outside helical off farther inward than the original Hyper plan just for this reason. There was talk on here of some machines buldging the stop signs a bit. I think tbran mentioned about some scrapers he tried to prevent this, but i decided just not to run it out so far. We cut some tough oats last season with very heavy straw and was really pushing it in places and didn't have any bulging YET!! I guess it's a judgment call - unless someone out there has additional info on this. Good luck! Tom langan

Thought maybe the only one to run farther out is the bottom one that would just enter the opposite curved section to the outside leading into the chopper since it's such a shorter distance to the same. I didn't feel like that material wouldn't make another circle before exiting. Thanks for the reply.

Yes I would leave the 3 to 4" distance to stop sign. We have drum stops in grain position for all crops when shocks are installed.
