Hey Kirk I have a son who thinks dads are about the dumbest thing to come down the pike in a long time. And come to think about it, I had the same feelings toward my own dad about 40 years ago. Have you thought about why your dad is reluctant to get into a modification projectIJ Speaking from experience, the worry about how it will turn out and whether it will be ready on time is a lot more stressful than the work itself. He probably looks at removing the cylinder as an insurmountable task that he just plain doesnt want to get involved in. He may look at it in a different light if he can count on you to be there to help put it back together and help get it running. Getting back to installing mods, that is the best thing I have ever done to a combine. It took us a couple of hours to remove the cylinder and about the same to reinstall it. Rolf and his dad did it in 45 minutes but those guys in Australia are just naturally faster than the rest of us. Smile! Good luck, Tom in MN

Kirk, It was the best time and money I ever spent. I got mostly used parts from Worthington Ag parts and spent less than $1000 total (including new part from my dealer). Keep working on Dad, you will both be amazed at the difference. Call me at 319-259-8771 (eastern Ia) if you want to talk. Pete Hinrichsen

We modified our P1 R-60 two seasons ago. Wouldn't even consider going back to stock. We harvest just corn and soybeans in southern MN. So far has worked well beyond our expectations; or just as HyperI and HyperII told us it would. Worst case senerio so far has been that it has only performed like stock machine. Do what ever it takes to convince your father. If that don't work, sneak in the shed and do it yourself. He will thank you later. There are lots of guys running these machines get your father to talk personally with some of them. Good luck.
