We have run 1480's in edible beans for close to two decades, and they work quite well. Does your rotor have straight separator bars on the back half of the rotor, or helical (twisted) barsIJ You will need the helical conversion if you don't have it, in order to keep the material moving out of the combine and not wrapping. Also change the drive sprocket on the rocktrap to run that slower, leave the feederhouse the same, and also slow down the clean grain elevator_auger by using a smaller driver sprocket. You may want to leave the bottom door on the return elevator open, as running the beans through the combine again will surely cause splits. Slow down the engine to around 1500 rpm when unloading. I would also look at buying a set of smooth edible bean concaves, they allow faster ground speeds and less splits, and make sure you always have the rotor as slow as it will go. It also helps to keep the combine running full to provide a cushion of beans. After you have made these changes once or twice, you will find that it doesn't take long to switch over at all. When set up properly, these are great bean combines! Good luck!
