Combines Help straw spreader mods

Greyhawk That sounds like it might work but how are you going to drive itIJ I'm trying to picture a longer belt and running it from the front main drive pulley off of the walker crank back to the main spreader and back down to the makeshift chaff spreader but in heavy straw I'm afraid where the belt is usually over 75% of the pulley a conversion like that will make it more of a 30% belt surface to pulley surface and it might slip. I guess you could run a double pulley system on the main spreader system and as you pull the spreader back to tighten the belt it would tighten the main one and the auxillary one at the same time. What was you thinkingIJ You sure should be able to make a shaker pan to sift the chaff down to the spreader out of some scrap sheet metal easy enough. Inquisative idea.....never thought of that one before. Sure should be cheaper than an aftermarket chaffer. Deerebines

Hey Deerbines . Thanks for the reply. what I was trying to figure out was if we can extend(or lower)the main straw spreader so to make it spread both the chaff and straw so there would only be one set of spinners but with plates on instead of the rubbers and probably lowered some to pick up the chaff. We mostly cut short strawed wheat and dwarf barley and some lupin so there is a low volume of straw compared to the amount of chaff.Basically i want to relocate_ alter the existing spreader assembly to do the whole job. What do you thinkIJIJIJ any comments appreciated Thanks Greyhawk
