sg; What moisture is the cornIJ The drier the corn the drier the cob. Moist cobs have little resistance to breakage as you may know. When I had a 1440, I would generally set concave at 5 or 6, 500 rpm rotor, and 5+ mile per hour with a standard rotor and 4 row head in 14- 17% corn and got very good results all the way around. i'm surprised your not throwing corn out of the rotor, dry corn you should be down to 400 or lower. some years we had to be at 300 to separate all the kernals. if you open the concaves too much you plug concaves especially in damp conditions. i don't recommend anything over 4 on concaves.
