Not sure where you're coming up with a belt that drives the hydro. The hydro on the 1480 is driven by a splined collar coming from the seperator drive gearbox, which is bolted onto and driven by the engine. A couple of years ago my 1480 quit when the driven shaft on the hydro got wollowed out as well as the drive collar that slid onto it. We had to get the header off and pull it two miles home to work on it. Since my 1480 had about 3000 hours on it then and the hydro was a little weak, we put a rebuilt one on it for about $1800. That saved time and got us back in the field. You may be able to save money by having a new shaft put in the hydro. Be sure to buy a new drive collar too. We had replaced the drive collar a few years earlier so I was really surprised when it stripped ot and failed. There's a lot of pressure and vibration on the drive and the Case dealer had another one in the shop fixing the exact same thing. Good luck.

The adapter housing that mounts the hydro pump to the pto housing has no pins to align the hydro shaft with the pto shaft. Often the alignment is way off, these are the ones that eat hydro shafts and drive couplers fast. You need to mount a magnetic base dial indicator on the pto shaft with the indicator running in the hole where the hydro pump mounts. Turn the engine and see if misalignment is more than .002,you need to shift the hydro adapter around untill it is right. This is most easily done with the adapter bolts turned snug, but not tight and the adapter moved around with gentle hammer taps. When you get it right, the shaft and drive collar will last a long time. When you replace the drive hub, make sure it is the new style with the grease zerk.
