hum, could have knocked out the volt reg, rare to harm the TTale units but possible. Remove the batts and test_charge separately. The older units w_o processors are rare to have this happen UNlESS the welder strikes a wire in the harness electrical system or the welder ground was placed in a really dumb location. It is always good practice to disconnect batteries before welding on any vehicle. It is better practice to tell father it must be the Deere Fairies that struck the combine rather than telling him it was his wrong doing.

I never told my father he might of fried anything I let him think it could have been mice. Critters are everywhere. Afterall he is 73 years old and I like his help around the place. It has kept us in touch over the years and I like his optimisum. Driftersifter

isn't it amazing as the kid we know it all,as the parent we get pretty dumb from the kids 16th birthday till into their twentys then we get a little smarter.

The worst part is, is that I still can't get the machine to charge I have replaced the regulator twice and the alternaor twice and it still isn't charging. I did find that a diode was out of the first generater but we still have no charging on the guage and the batteries are going dead. I did also buy two new batteries. Thanks again for the help folks. WHAT TYPE OF AlTIJ Do you have keyed - 12v on and off when the switch is turned on and off and the other wire beside it constant 12V IJ if it is DelcoIJ

I wish my dad were still around to tear up all the stuff he did. He would always tell me how he 'fixed' the problem. I learned after a time or two not to ask what cuased the problem that let to his Einsteinian 'fixes'. Curled what little hair I have to know some of the accidents.

I live 50 miles from where I farm so I farm mostly on weekends. I will not be able to get back to you until Monday but I will sure take a look as its driving quite nuts. I sure appreciate your help and its nice to know I have someone on here that understands the humor and sometimes frustration of "family farming".
