Combines Hey CORNKING re 9760 bullet rotor

Hello Mr. Kinze first thing I do not want to start any combine wars with any green or yellow guys.I will quit posting if that happens. Good discusion is good.And competion is what makes better equipment for everybody. All these manufactures are letting us farmers and opperators do the testing for them and that is not right. I am going to find out from Deere dealer if this machine that they brought out was there new bullet. It was a new 9760 that they were demoing. I asked the dealer if this was the latest and greatest with all the bells and whistles and he said yes. I asumed it was the bullet but now you have me thinking. And if I was wrong it was not meant to be. Deere new we were extreamaly unhappy with the 8010 last fall. It was a joke to say the least. Deere took us to the combine factory twice to convince me. Cat offered to take us to Germany. And remember they both came to my farm courting me I did not go to there house looking for the date. And we are always trading equipment so we were there target. Both cat and deere were vary determined to bring there machines out. Well about 2 weeks before the demo cat and deere both new we were in the market for some new quads and new combines. And Deere had about 5 months earlyer traded a front assist with me so they figured they had there foot in the door. Cat did not know till the day they unloaded there cat that deere was on its way also. They both new ahead of time that we were running a 18 row head on the 8010 and this fall was performing excellent (NO DOWNTIME) and I told them you will have to make your machine come close to 5000 bu per hr in 250bu irrigated corn for that was what we had been getting with 8010. I have freinds with the cats and deere so I dont want to offend anybody.The deere is a good machine I dont think they have enough seive area in the 9860 or 585 to compare to the 8010. Of my people that drove them we chose the red green and yellow actually to be honest after about an hour everybody had enough of the cat cab and the deere seemed easyer to operate than the cat and did have a cleaner sample but it was puking corn out the back trying to keep up to the cat. But after the day was over the cat guys and the deere guys new that the 8010 was king of the day. The cat guys said I quote (THIS CAB WIll SET THE BENCHMARK FOR THE INDUSTRY). In conclusion the reason we went with the 8010 to start with was exactly what you said about the drive on the Deere not pulling the big heads.I hope you are happy with your 9760 but if you can talk red or yellow into bringing one out to run along side then you will know for yourself for that is all that really matters you are the one paying the bill. Machines are kind of like a women if we all liked the same one with all the same bells and whistles she would be one busy lady! lOl

Thanks for the comments. The way you described your demo, I doubt that is had the new rotor in it. The bullet rotor is not going to add much, if any, capacity to that machine in corn anyway. It is only helping in tough beans and wheat. I pretty sure the reason deere always demo's the 9760, instead of the 9860, is to look like the underdog at the demo. If they show up with a class smaller combine and put on a respectible demo against bigger competition, it looks good. If they bring out the big gun and get whomped, it looks bad. We all know there is no difference between a 97 and a 98 except power, so I think this is their approach on demo's. I have no doubt that Deere must have something bigger coming down the line that they can go head to head with the biggest out there, but the 9860 is not that machine. In some crops it will run with an 8010, but where power is not limiting and cleaning capacity is (corn for example) it can't compete. One of the main reasons I went with the Deere is I plan on putting belt unloading on it and do large seeded coloured beans. All things equal, the STS seems to be doing a better job at putting out low seed coat cracks on these specialty crops. I was not interested at this time in a machine as big as the 8010, we do not do near enough acres to justify such a machine. Although the 2388 is a solid machine, green was our choice this time. like yourself, I don't like these colour wars. I get a kick out of guys who say one machine or the other is junk. They are all pretty close, some with pro and cons, some do better in special situations etc. It doesn't matter if it's pick-ups, combines or snowmobiles, some people can't be objective about any of it. At the day I like talking about it all, good bad or indifferent. Again thanks for your response.

I have seen more than one demo completely botched because the 'experts' setting up the combine made fools of themselves and their machine.

Not being one of the "Experts," but a farmer and lexion owner, I feel the "Experts" no more than you or I do about the products they represent. That being said, I know that there isn't a combine on the market that can match the performance and quality of a lexion, and that's not because I own one either. I said that before I bought one, when the "Expert" came to demo it in my area.

Well if the cat was not set right then I certainly do not want one! You can say what you want but everybody that seen it knows there were 2 cat specialist 1 truck driver that hauled this thing around and the salesman that sells cat. And now you tell me it was not set rightIJ Well who was suppose to set itIJ Deere dealer and his local mechanic or myself or one of my guys. If they cant make it work who shall you. last question are you employed by catIJ If so maybe give the rest of the boys some lessons. like the Deere salesman said who is cat trying to impress trying to run 8+ miles per hr pushing corn down because there head is so obsolete. They looked pretty bad at the end of the day. But I was happy that we tryed it cause now I know I wont have a cat till they clean that crude machine up. Starting with the cab and working there way back. Remember they came to the party they should have been ready to dance.

Did local Cat salesman set machine or did they send Isaacson out to set itIJ If it didn't preform after Isaacson set it then will not work for anyone, the man knows how to set a combine.

Peronally i don't want a expensive huge combine if it takes 10 experts to set it... i just go by the manual and set the sieves by the width of a finger and think about what size beans_corn im in.. and bam..im up and going

Hey Corn King and Case Farmer, that lexion can set itself if people would just let it do that! How much better can that beIJ No, it does not take 5 people to figure out how to set a combine. Besides, with all the sensors a lexion has and can "feel" the crop flow, who's more qualified to do those settings, the operator with all his guesswork, or the combine itselfIJ Think about it.

It IS because you OWN one, you are BETTER qualified to speak out about the lex, both positive as well as negative. I respect that far more than all the dribble, rumors and utter hear-say from those who have never so much as run one. Have you ever been to the other combine talk forumIJ There are also other lexion owners over there.
