Combines Hey NDDan are you going to tell us how you double an R75

Yea you put 660 HP in it instead of 330. Just kidding but that is what some people think we need. OK I'll give you a couple samples. Factory equiped R75 pushing 30' head 2MPH in some tough green soybeans and bang the cylinder belt slips out. Now remove the factory installed 4 reverse bars and whiz down the field smoothly at twice the speed. Now someone will say your now losing it out the back just like the walker machines can easily do and I say maybe maybe not. There are simply adjustments built into machine to adjust for lose and we have some tricks of our own. Some tricks have been discussed hear allready and some are remaining unmentioned for now. OK another sample is R75 picking up 8 30" rows of edible beans when sun is under cloud. It is damp out but beans are dry. Machine allready has reverse bars removed but it is grumbling like crazy and the cylinder belt fails. Bad belt or torque senser right!!!!! NOT. Install a set of what I am calling rotor sweeps and boom were doing four times the speed and can't tell anything is going threw machine. I could go on and on but I think you get the hint. Don't get me wrong for there has been plenty of talk hear lately on using at least two and up to four reverse bars. If that is working for someone than go right ahead. I'm sure there are many crops and conditions where reverse bars don't hurt a noticeable amount and only help but I know of tons of conditions where they kill the machine. I don't know of anyone harvesting 3500 to 4000 bu per hour and never threw out numbers like that. Maybe some one is but I bet it isn't a factory setup stock machine with an acceptable amount of FM in loads. Anyway back to my point. Don't give me a whole new concept of a combine to gain me capacity when a few tweaks or modifications is all I need. Give me a booklet of tricks for my new R75plus Gleaner (like all the other manufactures no doubt allready have) and make it retro back a few years and I'll be happy. Excuse me it wouldn't even need to be a booklet for just a few pages beyond what operator manual allready covers would likely do it. Oh I just figured another way to double a R75. CROSS EYES . Take care and have a safe harvest.

Dan, it is tougher to break into the comedy union than it is the engineers union. Dan didn't mention the work he has done on feed housings and the ability to slightly speed up the feed chain, increase the clean grain elevator speed, add raised feather sheets to the header or the hose mod for smoother feeding, the addition of cylinder disruptors for certain conditions and I am sure I left out some as well. AGCO published a calendar and the Nov picture is of a R75. The field he is threshing in looks full of cow pie size material littering the field that came out of the machine. That won't happen if the machine is equipped as Dan sez. look at your soybean field especially; if it has the cowpie look you could benfit from some hyper mods and the fuel savings will pay for the effort.

you must be really busy to reply to emails, so i will ask here, these mods you are talking about for the 75 can they be done to a 72 or is there some difference between the two machines. When you are talking about 3500-4000 bu_hr in corn are you saying gleaner can't do that or are you saying in stock set up they can't do that. I also asked if you were getting any 75 comming in on trade. Another thing I want to now is how well are the new dt tractors around the 240 hp area.

I don't know if you mean I havn't been replying to emails for I don't think I have any that I havn't responded to. The 72 came out over ten years ago and things have been done to them by company as the years rolled alone to get them closer to hyperized. I would have to say basically anything that can be done to a 75 can be done to a 72. I have never claimed a certain amount of bu_hr anywhere for any crop that I can remember. There is likely some operator hear that could give you bu_hr of a stock machine with factory set of reverse bars and compare to what they have with zooped up machine (hypered). I think it was some where over 3000 bu_hr where Tbran helped custumer find a faster clean grain drive pulley for shoe just plan overflowed. I know Hyper one figured a couple two or three years ago the 4000 bu_hr was possible but clean grain would have to be speeded up and he didn't know if more power was needed or not. I wonder what Hyper one would be up to now!!!!! You must of emailed the shop the way it sounds and I don't work sales. We have some R75s with hours and DTs have been working well with only small problems hear and there. I think most guys really like there DTs.

i emailed you on sat.... but it must not have went threw. I now with the mods i have done to my machines we are doing 3100 bu_hr. It is a lot better then factory set up. The dt is that the biggest they come in is 225 hp Have you seen the new class 8 gleaners, any pics of them, when will they be out. thanks. Colin

Hey Dan I like the 660 horsepower ideal! I guess I was making the mistake of taking my R72 that I have hyperized a little and trying to double that capacity, instead of a stock machine. I don't know why anyone would want to run a stock machine and why Agco still sells that machine to begin with. But your comments do raise a couple of other questions. What do you mean by "Rotor sweeps"IJ I don't think that I have seen that one mentioned before. About that 3500-4000 bushel remark, I never said you said it. I'm cutting over 3000 bushel with a 1230 head so to double that would be awesome. I had Agco engineers tell me that 3600 bushel was the maximum for the clean grain elevator in a labatory setting so I was tweaking you a little to see if you thought we could get over that number. It sounds like I need to ask tbran about how to speed the clean grain elevator up some. There have been plenty of times in 61-62 pound test weight, 225 bushel corn that I know that has been my limiting factor. Oh yea what are those rotor sweeps and what crops do they work inIJ I just can't beleive that you have been keeping some secrets to yourselve! I thought we shared everything on this site! Kurt

I see the wife must of cleaned up a bunch of mail lately and she must of wiped your mail off (sorry). Thanks for report on bu_hr for I know there is no way in this world to double that sort of capacity with that machine. I doubt very much you can double capacity of factory stock machine in corn no matter what you do but I know of a whole host of other crops that can be doubled plus. I think there is a great demand for these Gleaners in special crops and they can be made to work very easily a lot of times. If we were relying on corn, wheat, or soybeans to sell machines we would be in trouble. Yes the 225PTO HP is the biggest at this time. I'm sure there is bigger in the works but the 180 and 200 are our best sellers. I havn't seen anything of a class 8, only rumers but I'm starting to wonder. Take care

Tbran helped a guy get that pulley so I hope he can comment if that guy was in the 3600 bu_hr range. All that talk was on this board so you can look back a month or two. I've did little more than a hint hear or there on the rotor sweeps as of yet. I've had them in all sorts of grasses, edible beans, soybeans, sunflowers, wheat, corn up to 240bu, canola, flax, ect. They are something we built last fall for edible beans and it worked. We had did everything under the sun to cage and helicals and concave and seperator grate ect. to get this things to work well in edible beans when sun went down and this worked. The plus is that it looks as though we can use in a whole host of other crops. While following this site last winter I caught wind of St. Johns welding running something similiar. I don't know when he started testing or running his but we were both on the same wavelength. You can see his on his website and I'll wire you a picture of mine. like I said I did make mention of the sweeps earlier but tried to keep a low profile and do not worry I don't keep much for secrets hear and often say more than I maybe should. Have a fine one.
