Brassring Bob, If you have 3_4" tooth spacing on your cylinder bars,I would leave them as is. How much is worn off your used set of barsIJ Again,lo-profile cylinder bars are running a tooth height of 5_16"(new is 5_8").You could shave more off of a tooth that is too tall even if you take the chrome off when doing so. You are trying to keep flow of material through machine and wear on the sep. end will usually be less so chrome is not a must.I prefer the lo-profile bars that have been cut down and a bead of hard surfacing added to each tooth. Make sure that you put your lo-profile cylinder bars in the seperator end only,not on the thresher side.(You need to keep all threshing bars the same height.)I usually put two lo-profile bars end to end and line them up with the extended cylinder bars that go into discharge area.Removing every other row of cylinder bar all the way across cylinder works good in corn but you lose flow in soybeans that are a little tough or if you cut after dark.lo-prfile cylinder bars help in seperating grain from trash by agitaion,and don't forget your F2 toothed concaves on the seperator grate.
