Combines High Parts Prices Excuses

Tbran, you accentuate the positive and ignore the obvious in my message, although its refreshing to see that your responses are beyond the one you gave me in a posting below! And, since grammar seems to "count" out here, you misspelled "simply" (simpy) on the 7th line and "explain" (expain) on the last line; - you mustn't have an OEM keyboard. "these 'working relationships' are not discontinued as a willing action of AGCO." Are you telling me that Cummins dropped AGCOIJ "Deutz Engine partsIJ KHD Deutz went BROKE. The engine was all that survived." If you read my post, it was_is the engines I'm referring to, not the tractor itself! "I wonder if they can get a replacement crankshaft for those mostly green engines that are breaking and spitting rods out the block." Curb your "green envy", tbran; - I got a replacement engine with no problems, no hassles, and only one day downtime! Deere addressed the problem; - no excuses! "Deere just said, it is a captive part, you cannot get it anywhere else, so bend over." Did Deere REAllY say this tbran, or is this a figment of one's imagination! "Try going to a Deere dealer and present him with a part n and tell him to pick up the phone and call parts pricing and to lower the price because it is exorbitantly high in your opinion. Make sure there are a bunch of guys standing around to record the response." Been there; - done it! Walker drive on a 7700 combine years ago; - discounted the price by about 30%. Somehow, tbran, you have this idea that I believe Deere can do no wrong; - not on your life! I'm MostlyGreen but far from All green! What I'm saying is that, aside from Hesston, AGCO seems to have some serious issues with thier parts pricing, and I'm sick of being read the "riot act" everytime I'm faced with trying to obtain "vintage" AGCO parts!

Hello Dave, You've hit the nail on the head with your last sentence! My CaseIH dealer is beyond excellent, simply because he will not only go to bat on OEM parts pricing, but seems to be well connected for secondary sources of parts, even used parts. Our Deere dealer, again, seems to do his part to "ease the pain". What makes it bad for AGCO (in my area) is that they cancelled the two best dealers we had!

I'd say by the tone of your posts that you are kind of disgruntled with AGCO. If I were you, I'd trade all my AGCO equipment for Deere and change my name to AllGreen and confine my posts to the Deere section of this site. Obviously your AGCO dealer isn't being helpful enough to suite you. Complaining here on a regular basis will do nothing to change that. The rest is up to you.

Not really any other resolutions to your situation MostlyGreen. I am lucky I guess I dont really seem to have to buy many parts and dont have a problem with getting or pricing on the ones I do get. Best of luck to ya.

Hello Tom, That was the single, most pertinent question I had in my original post: "Has this "mindset" been experienced by other farmers out here, or is my situation uniqueIJ" Thank you for being one of the few (if not the only one on this forum) who has acknowledged that question!

Remember if you were a machine company that had a history of having a few good items and a lot of not so good items, then went broke, then got bought by a German company, then got bought by company managers and then had to fix a lot of problems and make some money too, I think Agco has done good for being business since 1991, you have to excuse my spelling, I am just a low class farmer, I also drive a dodge.

Hey tbran, some of these individuals think something 20 years old we should be able to get parts for CHEAP, I run a 84 n7 put rods and mains in, crank had been cut, can,t get oversize rods and mains from allis, ouch were they spendy, but as equiptment gets older and not many of them around, things get expensive if you can find the parts.Times change, sometimes these parts prices suck, football bearings from agco that didn't last and expensive, found a jobber and tried them, bearing finally lasted, bearings p-ss me off no grease. I have had very good experience with Hurtt equiptment dan nows his stuff, p-sses me off that all this bashing of dealer and personal, because you expect something for nothing. I thought this was a learning and information board for us gleaner boys, hope I'm not wrong. scott

yes, life is not fair. I apologize for any personal attacks in retaliation, sometimes it just snaps. As to spelling, I usually do long posts in word purrrfect (sic) then paste. I am a terrible speiller. Finally it is good we don't all like the same thing. It would be a boring and maybe dangerous world. About 75 years ago an angry little man with a funny 'do' and upper lip hair wanted everyone in the world to drive a WV 'bug' .............

Maybe the parts are or not too high priced, but as the farmer point of view, the price for what we sell has not come close to keeping up with inflation. Simple as that!!
