Combines Hole in hopper auger trough

On my 1688 rice machine both bin auger troughs have been patched at 1200 engine hours. Remove the auger and auger shield in grain tank, preform sheet metal to cover the thin area and weld. A good welder comes in handy here.

I was courious as to what guage of metal. THere isn't much room under the auger. (flight still decent) THe machine has 2500 hours. I had thought about that. It is only an area 4-5" long but the whole lenght should be done to do it right. THank you

I don't know what guage the metal was, I hired a welder who had done this patch job numerous times. The metal he used looked to be about as thickness as the flighting on the auger. He patched about a foot in each trough and then crossed the seam where the actual holes had formed and then another inch or two. Rice is very abrasive and just eats up a machine, which means several patch jobs.

The guage thickness is 16 ga. (0.06") I know of 2 or 3 farmers who have had their dealers order Part Number 192756C3. This is what some people call the "ocean wave"--it is the large piece of sheet metal that is under the two grain tank bottom augers. These farmers remove both augers and covers and laid the new piece over the worn out part and either welded or bolted it into place. Hope this suggestion helps.

I think that is exactly what I am looking for. Any ideas on a est. priceIJ I do want to fix it right as I plan on running it a while. The machine is very sound. Just some things that are worn.

We have done this repair many times. Find some one locally who does heating and ventilation and have him bend a piece of galvinized metal to fit your trough. He should be able to get whatever thickness you need. Then jus pop rivet it in place and run a bead of silicone around it. This also makes it easier to replace later if needed than having to cut the welds of the last patch.

Fats Are you able to roll the new piece in under the flighting or do you take it outIJ Thought I may save a few steps if it would work.

Dealer list price will be about $200 per for the 192756C3 grain tank bottom part.

I Have done it both ways though I'd say it is much easier with the auger out of the way.
