Yes,big problems broken sections and uneven feeding. The notill beans do so much better here in the land of no rain but the stocks that dont decay cause very big problems. My solution was a JD row crop.

Nick we installed the hose mod on our 820 last yr. we no-till drill all of our beans here in Southern Illinois and we did not have a problem with the corn stalks pushing and it worked great in our short drought beans last yr. now I don't know how long you normally can run after dusk but we never could run too late and this did not change It didn't cost a whole lot and don't take long to take off again if your not happy. Good luck Bob

I forgot to mention we did have a problem before installing the hose mod with the guards spearing root balls and pushing stalks we tilted the cutter bar up a little(the turn bolts under the head) and that corrected the problem and it still cuts low to the ground

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Bob. I am going to try it. If the hose mod doesn't go well,it'll come off easily. And thanks for the mention about tilting the cutter bar. I'll have a look at mine. Mine will push cornstalks and trash occasionally, especially when damp. I used to really enjoy running beans after dark when I had a N5 with a series one head. With the 800 I occasionally get to run late. The first time it wads up after dark I might as well park it. "polish'n 'er with dollar bills" Nick

Ya know Nick when we ran the old A-2's we used to run all night sometimes with very little pushing maybe it was cause we planted conv. in 20 in. rows been so long ago don't remember but with the series three on our old R-52 and the newer head the 800 series like ya said when it starts to get tough ya might as well head to the barn for the day wish I knew why, heck we even have poly skids now. huh go figure anyway have a safe harvest and if ya don't try change ya never will know if it will work hell where would we be if the hyper boys didn't try change!!!Bob

we run an are-way on all of our ground, that knocks down all the corn stocks and losens up the ground. Best no-till tool i have seen. But they do cost alot for what they are.
