Combines Hose Mod questions

When we installed the hose, we used the heavy, one holed conduit clamps. You may have to hunt around a little, but those clamps never bent for us. There is quite a difference between different types of clamps.

Mike I took some heavy conduit clamps and cut and welded them to make a full clamp held down with the guard bolt I didn't want the hose in my feeder either it took some time to cut and bent to form around but it was worth the piece of mind. P.S. the hose mod works great so it was worth the extra time to do it right. good luck Bob

Why use expensive hoseIJ We just got a couple of lengths of 2" PVC water pipe pipe, about 2.5" OD. Being rigid, the PVC only needed about 5 pieces of 1_4 x 1", each bent around the tube diameter, drilled and a bolted through some convenient holes in the knife bar to hold the tube in place. Non flex of course. Cheap and quick! Cheers!

i found everything i needed at the local lowe's home improvement store. i bought the 3" pvc pipe which is 3.5" o.d. and 3" conduit clamps. i cut 1_2" off of one end of the clamp so it wouldn't dig into the feather plate. i drilled the hole large enough for the guard bolt to fit down into. i cut the pvc pipe into sections with two clamps per section. the pipe is secure and the bar is still able to flex. i never would have thought something so simple would work so great. we really do owe these guys who monitor this website a big thank you. i read where NDan wrote a no hold barred letter to the engineering staff a gleaner. NDDan keep up the good work and thanks to you, Tbran, tom Russell, and and all the other guys who share their ideas on this website. one would think that if these engineers are so smart, why can't they think of some of these simple and effective ideas.

Hi RE: Cutter bar hose modification When using solid pcv pipe with a flexhead, you mention cutting the pipe in sections to accomadate the flexing. How long are the sectionsIJ How much space between the sectionsIJ Would the space between the sections cause bean material to get caughtupIJ Is flexible hose an easier optionIJ Which one PCV or hose is more effctiveIJ Do you reset the reel travel after the hose is in placeIJ Thanks Ed

the longest was around 23", some are smaller, i first mounted everything, and made sure i had 2 clamps for each section that i wanted to cut. i moved the clamps around till i got the lenghts i wanted. i left everything mounted and used a sawsall to cut pipe. hope it works as well for you as it does for me!
