I like my Johnson guard very much. I first had it on a 315 head on the F3. When I traded up to a R 42 I took the guard off the 315, purchased 5' and put it on the 520. If I knew about the hose mod. back in 1987 I think there would be one of those on because of the cost.

hose works about as good; less cost and about 10 minutes will get it off , let me rephrase that - it can be removed in 10 minutes for down wheat we run into sometimes.

Thanks for the info. I will only be using on soybeans so once installed it should not have to be removed. Will hose mod protect against rock threat as good as the Johnson deviceIJ Thanks to all, this is one great website!!!!!

I have friends that put on the Johnson and returned it to the dealer because there beans were to short and would not feed in.

IowaDan, Just installed the hose mod. on a 320 flex. Using 3"O.D. non-perforated,corrugated black tile. All materials(2-10ft.tiles,2-end caps,1-conn.,10-conduit hanger straps)run less than $20. Takes about 30 min. to install. Takes longer to shape the conduit hangers to fit around the tile than it does to install. Good luck, Hyper Harvest II

Thank you. A great idea to use black tile. I'll try to find it around here.
