Combines How did the Sisu engines work out IJ

They use more fuel then a Cummins. They have less power and torque then a cummins. This is compared to a 8.3 liter cummins. They would really be weak compared to a M-11. You ought to change the oil every 100 hours due to soot in the oil from exhaust gas recirculation. All in all a big step back from the tried and proven Cummins. One disclaimer though, this is not comparing a tier 3 against a tier 3.

Turbo you couldn't have summed it up better, we have had the torque curve changed on ours to rated rpm, it does help some but still uses way more fuel then our Cummins did and i am disappointed in having to change the oil at 100 hours although Agco is flipping for the oil and filters i belive, i think this has to do with the spinner filter they have that no one knows what to do with yet and the radiator pluigs much worse too, kind of wish we had our 2005 R65 back now.

I have heard a few times that the sisu equipped machines are having radiator plugging problems and was wondering did they change the radiator on these machines or is it more of an airflow issue with the engine fanIJ

Hey, We thought it was a good move from the Cummins to the Sisu. We had a 98 R62 and couldn't ever keep it cool. Cummins had to come out and power our motor up on it. We now have a MF 9790 with the Cummins and they came out when we purchased it and turned the torque up. Would really like to run a new one with Sisu. Maybe this next summer we will have another out here to try. We've had many MF tractors with Sisu and haven't had many problems with them. Trevor S.

You said you had an R-62 and now a 9790 just wondering why you switched and now that you have how do you like the 9790IJ We have been real happy with the R62_72 but it appears that AGCO may be moving towards the axial rotor and wonder how it compares to the R's as we have not had an opportunity to try one yet. Besides a demo only shows what a machine can do in that crop at that time. Thanks

Well, our Agco_MF dealer a few years back had a bunch of Gleaners on their lot and couldn't sell them. A local Case IH dealer picked up the line, but we couldn't get a price for a new Gleaner or Case combine from them. Our Agco_MF dealer brought this MF 9790 in to demo for us and a few other farmers in the area, so we demoed it and liked it, but we were kinda worried about having the only one around. So we didn't trade until about April or May, because no one would give us prices for a new combine. As for the 9790 we like it. Dealer has been really good to us. We have only run it in wheat and barley, but I could do 6 mph in barley with 25 ft header, but it was throwing quite a bit out the back. We usually run around 3-3.5 mph. I'll be honest with you. The r-62 cleans up the grain better, but I think we can get our 9790 closer now that we have had 2 yrs experience with it. If you have anymore questions just ask. Trevor S.
