The 8010 that was run at Husker Harvest ran pretty much trouble free for the 25 hours that it was used. Minor small problems that could occur on any new machine. It will be headed to one of my customers very soon for corn. I had the opportunity to work with Ralph and Cam for 5 days before the show and the 2 days that we were able to harvest during the show. We were very impressed with the power and capacity of this machine. Conditions were less than ideal. There were lots of areas in the field that the stalks were totally green and areas that were very dry. Moisture varied from the upper teens to the high 30's. We never saw the engine rpm fall. It has a high idle speed of 2100 and that is also where full rated speed is set. I have never been in a combine that ran like this. The combine was capable of running with the big Deere or the Cat, but we were warned before the show of the 4 mph speed limit and what the consequences might be. Setting the machine was very similar to a 2388, only with more capacity. The return system has a lot of capacity, as we never did overload it. There has been only one engine changed during wheat harvest and it was no fault of the motor. They suspect that the bolts holding the driveshaft from the rotor CVT to the rotor gearbox may not have been torqued. The shaft came loose and knocked a hole in the pan. The engine protection system shut it down immediately. The motor was replaced. They shipped the engine to us and as soon as my new engine stand arrives, we will remove the pan to look at the damage. That is the only engine failure that I am aware of. Engine is proving to be pretty good on fuel also.
