well i just saw two of them today getting preped and ready. our dealership is the caseih dealer for the farm progress show and they have a third one running corn at the show site. 12 row 170bu._acre, 4.5mph,21% corn and only using 80 percent of the avalible power. they haven't heard of any major problems just minor glitches.

Saw the 8010 in action at husker harvest days and it did a nice job. But talk about complex and complicated. It is a big machine but not big enough to run with the 9860 deere and the 485R cat. They were running 1.5 mph faster and was doing a better job. Maybe they didn't have it set up right, but it was cleaning really well. And I guess I can't say that the case is the only complex combine because they all are.

ComplicatedIJ The local dealer took me to see one before harvest and I think this is the most basic and simple machine on the market! If your meaning all those hydraulic lines, how often do they breakIJ Anyways the case rep said any line could be taken off without removing another.P.S. Iwonder where dakota gets his gossip from, blown enginesIJ I believe case is running a proven iveco engine.

local demo unit had problems with chopper drive. Broke a big power band sheave and tore up some hydraulic lines. Never found out what the actual problem turned out to be as a new sheave didn't fix the problem. One of the few mechanically driven things on the combine and it failed.

The reason for the Deere and lexion going 1.5 mph faster has nothing to do with them having more capacity. The Husker Harvest Show has a harvesting speed limit of 4 mph. The 9860 and 485R were breaking the rules by going 5.5 mph. The 8010 at 4mph was only using 60% of engine capacity.

yes thats what the the rep for case ih said that they all have to go the same speed otherwise they would get asked to leave the field.

I wanna know how a person can tell if one machine is running half mph faster than the rest. The only way you could possibly is if you rode in each machine. And the way the Case and New Holland guys think for the most part that i have seen is they dont have to run that fast to get the point across i know that for a fact cause last year at fps the NH man i stood next to laughed at the way the cat and deere were seeing who could set the speed record he said he could do that too but its not gonna prove much

The 8010 that was run at Husker Harvest ran pretty much trouble free for the 25 hours that it was used. Minor small problems that could occur on any new machine. It will be headed to one of my customers very soon for corn. I had the opportunity to work with Ralph and Cam for 5 days before the show and the 2 days that we were able to harvest during the show. We were very impressed with the power and capacity of this machine. Conditions were less than ideal. There were lots of areas in the field that the stalks were totally green and areas that were very dry. Moisture varied from the upper teens to the high 30's. We never saw the engine rpm fall. It has a high idle speed of 2100 and that is also where full rated speed is set. I have never been in a combine that ran like this. The combine was capable of running with the big Deere or the Cat, but we were warned before the show of the 4 mph speed limit and what the consequences might be. Setting the machine was very similar to a 2388, only with more capacity. The return system has a lot of capacity, as we never did overload it. There has been only one engine changed during wheat harvest and it was no fault of the motor. They suspect that the bolts holding the driveshaft from the rotor CVT to the rotor gearbox may not have been torqued. The shaft came loose and knocked a hole in the pan. The engine protection system shut it down immediately. The motor was replaced. They shipped the engine to us and as soon as my new engine stand arrives, we will remove the pan to look at the damage. That is the only engine failure that I am aware of. Engine is proving to be pretty good on fuel also.

I am well aware of the 4 mph speed limit that is set at the show. The first run they all ran within the limit. But on the second and third runs they all were going faster. I was looking at the job done on the first run compared to the second and third. The Case did a good job but they had other machines there that was doing better. I know Cam, heck of a good guy. My sister rode with him at the 2000 show, and yes he did go fast then 4 mph!
