The CR's use a different concept of speed. First of all they recommend using 2nd gear rather than 3rd gear in the field. This benefits the hydrostats especially in mud. 2nd gear is about 7.8 mph max. Secondly, you don't operate by mph anymore. You watch your info-monitor and it has a "% of power" value that determines your ground speed. They recommend trying to have the reading be 92%.I find that this really works better than trying to determine a mph that works best. It's interesting that it takes about 25% of the engines power just to run everything standing still. Also going across a soft field with a 300 bu. hopper full takes about 50-60% of your power. I am talking about a CR940. The CR960 has a bigger engine so it should have more available power for threshing.
