I waited for a part for a transmission on 20 year old tractor for 5 months before I told them to put the tractor back together so I could trade it off. They called shortly after thanksgiving to tell me they thought they'd have it in 4-6 weeks. Needless to say I didn't need it anymore. AGCO parts is a joke. You can count on getting the runaround(if they even respond to you) from management and your local AGCO rep will be about as helpfull as a cup full of salt on an open wound. For combine parts I would have went 100% aftermarket and saved yourself some aggravation. Great combine, poor parts and tech support.

I work for an AGCO_Gleaner dealer and I was caught in the middle on the power director hub for that 8070 that was backordered for 9 mos. We got a call about 3 weeks ago saying they were finally ready to ship Mike. I will say that there are problems with backorders sometimes, but what you guys have are not the norm. I havent been with it for that long, but I was told this year was the worst for backorders anyone can remember. There is no excuse for what has happened, but everyone has done it at one point or another, and for the most part we try and keep all the "everyday" parts we can, and AGCO is usually good about shipping those. Hopefully the situations can be corrected soon cause AGCO knows that if they cant support their equipment it will bite them in a hurry.

It can happen with any brand. At least with Gleaner, they seem to continue to make parts available years down the road. That's why we're still running one. Talked with a farmer running a 4435 Deere combine. His parts guy told him he could print a page full of parts that were no longer available and list keeps growing by the month. I work for a CaseIH dealer in sales. We've seen the same type of scenario multi-month backorders and discontinued parts. Case IH says they will guarantee full line part support for 10 years before they discontinue parts that aren't moving. I think that is not always true. Some hay tools we sold didn't make it 5 years with full support when CaseIH sold its share of Hesston back to AGCO. Also, we waited 3 months for some disc blades because the foundary wasn't forging them till the next quarter. Just my 2 cents.

Not excusing AGCO either because that is ridiculus! However, I have also seen the part delays and discontinued parts thing lots of times with other brands. Neigbor went to replace shaker arms on JD6600. Dealer told him they are discontinued...same goes for the buzzer or alarm he wanted.

The point is you cannot have a backorder for a part on a 20 year old tractor that is the best selling offering that AGCO_AC has had. I sure don't blame the dealer and quite frankly Dick Mahalic up in the Chicago parts warehouse seemed to be concerened. My problem is I was blown off by our local rep and was only responed to one time by Dick Mahalics boss and the territory reps boss both of whom I'd sent several pieces of correspondance. Unfortunatly AGCO created the problem by letting supplies run out without having plans to replace supply until the original quantity had been depleted for 4 months. The end result is the dealer loses because it's his customer who's PO'd and the dealer has no control over the parts. You(AGCO) don't treat customers that way and expect any repeat business. If I told my landlord his rent was backordered for 9 months he'd find a new tenant the next day.

I was never trying to say it was okay, so I wanna apologize if it came off that way. At the AGCO parts fair, the concern about backorders was raised by evey dealer that attended. All they can say is they are working on it. With all the outsourcing everyone does anymore backorders are an unfortunate consequence. And when they start at the supplier, eventually AGCO then the dealers start to get short which leads to customers getting hurt. There is no excuse for it, all anyone can do is try to work through it.
