I know of a guy that will be getting the 2388 through 2005. I've also heard of the 7010, but I was talking with a dealer and he was saying that the 2388 with the AFX rotor is equal to the 7010, so they will be making the 2388 w_AFX instead for the time being. I think they are moving them to Grand Island currently. Should be done by the end of this year or a little later. I tried getting a tour there because they are producing both the New Holland and CaseIH combines, but they are shut down until February, assuming they are moving the production lines from Racine to Grand Island.

Sure hope they aren't moving the line out of Racine, otherwise CIH has a few more management problems then I thought they did.

the are still making 2300's in EAST MOlINE till june thats when it shuts down and 2300 production moves to grand island (non union plant) no 2300 production for 8 months thats why all the dealers have ordered plenty ahead. CaseIH representives have told me that the 2366 maybe changed to a 8010 style machine but the 2388 will be made for the forseeable future as it is. I really don't think they know!

You're right, they don't really know. Many CIH custom harvesters have been asked this summer how many more 2388s they're going to buy for the next two years. So they can be manufactured ahead of time and then shut down the plant. From head factory people I learned at the husker harvest show, that the 7010 did not perform well enough compared to the 2388 and therefor went back to the drawing board.

I live about 15 miles from the East Moline plant, sure will be a blow to the area when that place closes down next year. lots of combines still being churned out of that place getting ready for the shutdown. Was implying that if they were moving the line out of Racine, management really had no idea what was going on if they were moving a tractor line out to NE.

as was stated, the afx7010 that was slated to replace the 2388 failed to accomplish the task in head-to-head test. it was found a 2388 with the afx rotor would outperform and was cheaper to maintain than the 7010. i sincerely hope the 2388 or something like it will be in the works for years to come, regardless of where made in the USA. i know the change in facilities has been a blow to the EMC crowd--- they where the heart of the axial-flow for over 25 years....
