A farmer I know has a 1990 9600 that he has owned since new with over 8000 engine hours on it. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance is all you need to know.

Normally seperator hrs are 2_3 of engne hrs.So this machine is ave. High hours is no problem if it has been maintained properly. So maintenance is the key. If the price is right go for it.

I wouldn't be a bit afraid. When we traded our 9610s off they had around 2000 separator hours on. I wouldn't have hesitated to run those again. Maintenance is the key. There are lots of places to look for. I could give you a list. The price is what really matters. If the price is right, you can rebuilt a lot yourself. I would expect a combine engine to last 10,000 hours with no problem, if it was maintained properly.

We have a '91 9500 with over 4700 sep. and 6500 eng. hours. Just good maintence and wear parts. We cover about 400 sm. grain, 1200 beans, and 800 corn a year with it. and plan to run at least one more year with it, if not more.
