M series will give considerable more capacity--up to 50 percent more. Common head size would be 16 or 18 foot, but could handle 20' depending on crop.

I would look into a N or R combine. An old N combine will sell for $3500 to$6000. They have a lot less moving parts so their is less repairs. Headers are 20 foot and up, but you have to keep combine full. So if you have a lot of steep hills or rough ground so you have low ground speed you will have trouble with the combine throwing out the back. The more acres you have to combine each year the newer the combine I would get. If you ever go to a rotor combine you will never go back to a conventional combine. Good luck!

If it has a Hawk's head in the green stripe on the side AND a silver_grey interior cab color, then it is a '90. I'm not sure if they were built in '87, but I have never seen one. So I guess they began in 1988. In 1989.5 they went to all the hydraulics on the machine (they eliminated the reservoir on the flex head). Have a good one and good luck.
