Do you have the high speed spreader pulleyIJ It takes a smaller pulley on the back of the machine. Originally came out in Europe I think, but now the two speed spreader is standard equipment, I think. There is a conversion kit. The high speed works great. However, we always get some build up on the rear axle.

Take those tall plastic spreader bats off and throw them away. They are worthless. Get the curved steel bats. They'll spread anything 30' in most conditions. And yes you need more curtains to cover the axle to keep it from biulding up on the axle and falling off in piles. K.A.

I get a wide enough spread. Actually, I am on the middle hole setting because on the most aggressive, it was too much. I was catching old stems in the standing beans on the next pass back, causing problems in the sickle in that corner; would catch and drag and push. I will figure out an idea for more curtains.
