give redekop mfg. a call in saskatoon, sk, canada (306)931-6664 ask for gary we have a 02 9650 sts and we put all new sharpened straight blades (need different bushings)in the whole chopper rotor except the very outside edges arouund the rotor put paddle blades in there to get some extra spread to the outer edges....of course keep balance in mind when you put the paddle blades in, go around the outer edges of each side of the chopper. doing it this way saves alot of HP, it chops just as good and you can flip them around for more wear. Redekop will set you up. I think they even have a high wear boronized straight blade available now.......more $$$$ i am sure, but mabye last way longer. give it a try. hope this helps.

Your name tells me part of your problem. The soil Palouse area of the PNW is notorious for wearing out things like combine wear parts. Years ago a CIH rep bragged about how long concaves and rub bars would last in an A_F, then he added, but in the Pacific NW they won't last one season if they are not hard chrome. The first STS machines in the Palouse also wore out at an alarming rate. I think it is the volcanic ash in the soil and scraping up dirt when cutting things like peas and lentils. Better hope that St Helens does not give you another dose of ash. An ag engineer also told me that JD gets soil from around Colfax WA to test bearing, because it is so abrasive. So if you can find some hardened chopper blade that might help.
