Combines how to lower 8000 knife to cut lower

You sound like you are in need of a landroller. Do this and you will cure those problems.

Where are you locatedIJWe have changed knife height on several headers in Ontario and will be changing 2 more this winter.Our changes allow guards to run flatter to ground and feather sheet changes allows reel to sweep crop off cutter bar better.

We have a 825 grain head with the SCH sickle. It took two of us about 3 hrs. We bolted our sections on the bottom of the bar, and turned all of our guards over. On each end you have to do some extra modification to the guards. On our machine it made a tremendous difference. We now literally shave the stubble at the ground. This was discussed in detail on here approx. 45 days ago.

I have already turned the gaurds upside down before I started fall harvest.I am located in Ohio. One things with this combine is I put big floation tires all the way around the combine and the back end is about four inches higher now. The combine leans forward,and when the dealer was out I drove one mile per hour and it still cut too high,and the knife was new and the register was timed right one the knife

I would like to see the mods that youve done to cut shorter with the sch, I to am not very satisfied with the lenght of cut even on very flat ground it still leaves stubble 2to3 inches tall. My local dealer suggested switching back to quick cut cutterbar and knives but I'm not convinced thats the way to go. Any thoughts would be helpfull, Daniel in Qubec.

We have a modified header on a r72 with 18.4x42 duals and 28lx26 rears.leaves a 1 to 2 inch stubble now and guards are level.leave Email addres.Can send pictures.
