I never ran the masseys much. That was the supreme commanders deal but he always watched that rear beater speed and he claimed that told him everything he needed to know as to how fast to drive in the conditions they were in. We of course did alot of inspecting behind the machine when first going and after harvest was speeding along but this is in wheat and sorghum. Usually if the rethresher plugged it was a good sign either the belt was shot or you were running in extremely green stuff. Your grain tank will tell you alot and the same with inspecting behind the machine after going a stretch.
