Combines HUGGER HEAD SPEED

We run a 52 and a 62 both with 6rn heads and I know what you mean about pulling the stalks down. It seems like if you run the head low to the ground it pulls the stalks down better, almost like a chopping effect. With the 52 in 200 bushel corn I'm limited to about 4 mph anyway so it's not that big of an issue as compared to the 62 that can travel 5.5 mph plus. you should be able to get a speed up kit from agco I put one on my header a few years ago .

You must not have the variable speed feederhouse. There is a kit to speed up the auger that comes through wholegoods so don't stop at the parts counter for that one but go to the salesman. There are about 3 different sprockets that goes on the back shaft of the Hugger cornhead. 13 tooth, 16 tooth, and 18 tooth. These can be ordered through parts. If you have 2 PTO shafts on the header, you will need 2 sprockets. To really speed it up, use a quality weld a sprocket setup with 24 tooth sprocket. That will get you up to the maximum speed of a variable speed feederhouse. You need to get hub thickness dimensions as that measurement is critical. Kelly

Hub thickness needs to be 1.375 overall, no setscrew but needs a 5_16" keyway. Kelly

THANKS KEllY FOR THE INFORMATION IT WIll COME IN HANDY. WHICH SPROCKET ARE YOU USING. WOUlD lIKE TO BE ABlE TO PUSH 6 MPH IF CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT. AlSO THINKING ABOUT A lONG TOOTH CHAFFER FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE NOT REAllY HAPPY WITH STOCK SET UP EVEN THOUGH INSTAllED THE HYPER CHAFFER MOD SAMPlE GETS COBBY ON THE ENDS IF I SET IT TO REAllY ROll. The sprocket setup was for somebody else. They went for the 24 tooth and was thinking about more speed yet for lower yielding corn. the 24 tooth seems to work up to 5.5-6 mph. To get more speed the front one would probably have to be changed. It has a hex shaft running through it. I personally like the square tooth chaffer but in good corn (150+),it tends to run out of capacity. Then you would need to go to the long rounded tooth chaffer. Kelly
