We had a 93 model 8-30 hugger that we just trader this year. We bought it new and never did a thing to it except grease it. We run 750 to 800 acres through it a year. The hugger is a little lower profile then the other and with the gear boxes, they are as good a head as there is on the market bar none. Never had the poly snouts. John Ferguson

Doug, Unless you enjoy getting in and out of your combine a million times I would invest in a corn reel and rebuild your current head. Even with a lower profile head and poly snouts you will still have a fist fight on your hands with that downed corn. You need something to pull that down corn into the head and keep it moving into the auger, a corn reel will do just that. I did my neighbors and mine flat corn last year with a home made reel on my N6 and without it I would still be out there. My $.02 worth, Pete Hinrichsen

Just remember that there are 2 styles of N corn head. The earlier N combines and heads won't match up to the hugger. They had to be converted to the longer throat. The Series 3 N had the longer throat and will match up to a brand new hugger.
