Hump helps feed chain keep control of crop a bit longer so cylinder will such it away. It just plane helps feeding all the time in my opinion. less chance of dirt building up and causing problems and much more sensative to rock or stump or whatever may be hideing in field for you. P1s always had hump built into door and later ones with roller latch worked quite well at getting rid of foreign material as compaired to P3s. I don't go out of my way to get hump in all machines but do recommend it. Good luck
