Combines HVAC

We just replaced the motor and fan assembly under the seat of our 2388. Fan just quit working. Put the new one in and it works great now.

Yes, I had to replace the HVAC controller in my '96 2188 last fall. Seems like the symptoms were somewhat as you described. I had no heat. (A bad conection at the HVAC controller will default the blower speed to high.) I first tried the heater valve and it defaulted to closed and stayed there just like the one that was on there. I then tried the controller and could hear the old heater valve clicking, so had to replace both the valve and the controller. The controller was $215.16 and the valve $40.24. HTH

On the 2100's, the driver for the pulse width control for the blower fan is also in the controller. The driver generates a lot of heat and this is what can fail the controller. When you hook it up, if this is the earlier version with 3 plugs one of which has two grounds and a hot wire in it be sure to get it right. There is no polarity tab on this connector and if you reverse it you will be buying another controller. Experience talking here. The H0 code you refer to is strictly for the header controller and not for the HVAC. Most likely occurred when shutting the lights off or something like that. Check all your electrical connections in the starting_charging system. Bet the battery terminals are corroded and need to be cleaned. have also seen this one if the cab ground on the right hand side is loose. Generates voltage spikes.

Got this thing fixed today. A real learning experience. First of all the H0 code turned out to be the alt was literally coming apart and occasionally sending the charge vlotage up to 17 volts. Once that was fixed installed new controller and still no fan. Farmer had tried a new motor but retried it anyway no help. Back to the schematics. Checked groung wire at controller - OK. Decided to check all the fuses with a voltmeter. Found n11 fuse blown - HVAC controller fuse. Fuse feeds the AC switch and then to the controller which is a separate feed from n14 blower fuse. Replaced fuse and tried - still no fan. Rechecked fuse - blown again. Removed AC switch and front headliner panel. Didn't see anything obvious so tried another fuse and fan started working at half speed only. Turned out that was cause I hadn't pushed the harness with the speed pot wires all the way back in. Put everything back to original and it all works including AC. live and learn!!!!!!
